On October 18th, 2010, emergency response representatives from Ontario municipalities, public health services and some agricultural industries gathered for a workshop on preparing for an emergency in the livestock and poultry sector.

This workshop was designed to get these professionals thinking about how agriculture (livestock and poultry specifically) can be and should be incorporated into their own emergency response plan.

Participants heard presentations from OMAFRA, Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, the County of Wellington, Ontario Farm Animal Council and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.  They also participated in round-table discussions about preparing for a zoonotic emergency in their municipality.
